Excellent facilities for active families on Redlands Coast
Wellington Point Recreation Reserve on Redlands Coast features a low tide walk out to King Island, BBQ and picnic facilities, a boat ramp, and fantastic playgrounds making it a popular destination for families and daytrippers around South East Queensland. However, with all of these amazing facilities so easily accessible, many visitors never get to the fantastic activity area that is suitable for all ages on the southeastern lawn of the reserve.

Reaching this area includes a pleasant walk past the long jetty and boat ramp, with views across Moreton Bay to Minjerribah / North Stradbroke Island. Once you reach the end of the boat trailer car park the facilities begin to open up between the trees and picnic facilities.
Walking beyond the boat ramp and car park will bring you to this less-frequented area of the reserve
The first facility visitors will encounter is a kayak and canoe launching point. Although this can be used at any time, high tide and low wind conditions are the most pleasant. The tides, wind, and other weather forecasts for Wellington Point can be checked here before you go.
There is a dedicated canoe and kayak launching ramp here, which is best accessed at high tide
Just beyond this, to the right-hand side of the pathway (that is suitable for walkers, bike riders, and scooters) is a small, modern outdoor gym area. The varied equipment installed here includes instructions and is placed adjacent to a playground, making it perfect for active families to enjoy age-appropriate exercise together.

The exercise track extends beyond this, fringing the waterfront on the left, and a large playing field on the right that is perfect for a number of family ball games, even with the space needed for ongoing social distancing.

Additional exercise equipment is installed along this track, all the way until the end of the parklands, making this entire, often-overlooked area of Wellington Point Recreation Reserve perfect for active families of all ages.
