If you're looking for a fun experience and a new way to explore Wellington, then look no further!

I had a day free in Wellington and wanted to do something free that would cram in as many different sights as I could into one afternoon. I had heard that the Cable Car was a fun unique thing to do in Wellington, so I decided to give that a go. I took the car up from the town centre and the views were incredible! I got off at the top stop, which took about 5 minutes from the town centre and cost me $9 for a return ticket. A one-way ticket is $5 and the view from the top was incredible.

I decided to check out the Botanical Gardens and rather than get the cable car down, I walked all the way back into town through the gardens. It took me 3 hours to walk back into town but that involved lots of time stopping to enjoy the views and plants. It was a very steep walk but generally, there were plenty of benches and places to stop for a rest! The gardens are incredible; they feature a variety of different plants that are non-native to New Zealand. I would definitely recommend checking out the gardens and cable car if you're in Wellington.
