The world as we know it has changed, and Wellington city is physically off limits. It's a time for creative thinking and finding new pathways. Now, it's possible for you to have 360 experiences that feature local businesses and attractions via a range of virtual reality programs at your fingertips. It's FREE to download from STEAM and oculus VR stores. Are you VR ready? Find out more about the game and system requirements HERE.

Use the EXPLORE MORE section to immerse yourself in some of Wellington's most iconic experiences via 360 video, especially for those without a VR headset. From an All Blacks rugby test match and the office of Wellington-based global online accountancy firm Xero, to a special glimpse of a Weta Studio Tour at the Oscar-winning Weta Workshop, you can switch between the WellTown and Explore More components of Virtual Wellington. There's nothing like being in the actual city, but it's virtually the same.

The Welltown VR game made Wellington the world's first gamified virtual city and is made up of 6 short interactive experiences that embody all it means to be a Wellingtonian. You can shoot coffee at caffeine-deprived zombies, take an underwater dive in Wellington's pristine harbour as a curious whale swims by, listen to a chorus of birds in native bush surrounding the city, busk with a local band on the coolest street, stand beneath a starlit sky during Matariki and help people leap off a diving platform on the waterfront. What are you waiting for? It's FREE.
