Every playground I visit with my little girl seems to have something that makes it unique to the rest, and the brand new adventure park at Wellard is no different.

Wellard's brand new adventure park.
This awesome playground was completed in mid-2016 and features a number of great attractions for kids, including a 7.3 metre high climbing tower that is only accessible by rope ladders, lots of rope play, including my favourite – rope hammocks, and a BMX and skate park. Clearly a slide and a set of monkey bars are no longer enough.

The four-storey tower.
Even the play structure is unlike any I've seen before – it is a dome shape with musical instruments and sensory play placed at various stages outside the structure and a platform in the middle.

There are three swings, all of which have a back bar covered in garden hose material. That's different. I was a bit disappointed that there is no swing for the younger kids, but there is a small slide that smaller children will enjoy.

Behind the small slide is a set of three mini in-ground trampolines, which are sure to keep kids entertained (and get a bit of exercise in the process.)

The rope play area is quite impressive – there are structures to climb, tightropes to conquer and a couple of hammocks for mum and dad to climb into and have a rest.

My kind of playground.
Up the hill from the rope play is the four-storey climbing tower. Each level is accessible by rope ladders and the slide is located on the second level of the structure.
Part of the park is set among natural bush, with picnic tables and a barbeque located within the park. There is a fantastic BMX and skate track, so don't forget to take the kids' bikes or skateboards along so they can check it out.

The playground is padded out with a soft, cushioned surface that is sure to reduce the impact of bumps and falls. There is also a drinking fountain in the playground.

Pack a picnic.
Parking around the playground is limited. The park is a short walk from the
Wellard Square Shopping Centre, where there is more parking and food and coffee outlets, plus toilets and baby change facilities.
This new adventure playground is sure to impress kids of all ages with its ingenuity, great play structures and space to zip around on the BMX or skateboard.
