This is some background information about the participating artists:

Gerald Phillips – Lazy Dog Lighting
Gerald is an Electrician with over 40 years of experience. He decided to put his extensive knowledge and industry experience into designing one-of-a-kind lighting. He designs and builds all lighting from scratch in West End, using locally sourced
timbers (Black Sassafras and Tasmanian Oak, to name a couple).
His pieces range from hanging lamps, table lamps and floor lamps. All are dimmable and can be customised to the clients' needs. He is currently focused on geometrically shaped lighting, but is always experimenting with new ideas – often only making limited batches of certain designs. With each piece being handmade, no two pieces are the same. Forager's Nest is showcasing and selling a large variety of his lighting, bringing warmth and coziness to rooms.

Brie Jorgensen – Kinsey Artist
Brie is a (very!) local artist who creates all of her works just around the corner in Paddington. She creates colourful dot & squiggle paintings using acrylic paints on canvas and thrifted homewares. She makes sure her homewares are watertight and sealed, so they are hardy and user-friendly like coasters, inkwells, cement or terracotta vases/pots. All include a touch of gold on the piece, which has become her signature and creates consistency within her home-ware collection. Each dot and squiggle on her artworks are counted and the artworks are titled as such. She experiments with collage and thoughtful colour combinations throughout her works.

Barbara Bakker – Purple Vase Creations
Barbara is largely a self-taught artist practising in multiple disciplines, with a strong focus on repurposing paper and fabric. In this exhibition, she has concentrated on a traditional basket coiling technique incorporating favourite fabrics and a simple blanket stitch. The end product is made both beautiful and functional with her personal slant on organic form and the inclusion of foraged sticks found during her many walks in the local bushland. Each piece has its own story to tell.

So if you like what you have just read, go along to Forager's Nest between 2- 5pm on Saturday the 4th of June and see the artwork and hear the artists talking about their pieces.
