Event:
Fringe World gives voice to young refugees
Over 60 young refugee and asylum seekers express their stories through music, dance and media in two video works at a FREE Fringe World event on the 19th February 2015.

Held in the Northbridge Piazza, the viewing forms part of YMCA Drug Aware Open Arts program and is supported by the Australia Council for the Arts and Healthway.

Created by students from all over the world, including South Sudan and Vietnam, the videos shown at the event will offer a poignant reminder of the wealth of experiences and backgrounds in Australia's multicultural society.

The two videos are the culmination of a year-long community art project. Students gained the relevant skills at workshops with leading Perth artists such as hip hop song writing with Scott Griffiths and film-making with Mat de Konig.

The students then developed their own ideas for the videos and undertook the tasks of directing, filming and costume design and creation with the help of Perth designer Zoe Trotman.

The event is a not-to-miss opportunity to bring people together from all backgrounds and show solidarity with all cultures in our wonderful city of Perth.
