Once again, it's that time to set New Year resolutions and if you are anything like me, losing weight is one of them.
Losing weight is about a lifestyle change so here are 5 simple ways to lose weight so you can cross it off the resolution list.
1. Learn to love WATER!
We all know we should be drinking about 2 litres of water day. So for those of you just can't.... drink up!
One way to get into the habit is to use reusable drinking bottles to keep track of how much you drink. For example, most water bottles are 500ml, so if you drink 4 a day, you have reached your goal. This way also gives you small sense of achievement with each bottle you finish.
2. Get up and EXERCISE! Some days I wished I was allergic to exercise, but it's a fact of life you need to MOVE to LOSE.
Here are some suggestions: Start off small and take a walk around the block with your favourite tunes. Joining a team sport is a great way to stay motivated. Train to enter in an event like City for Surf, or for those who want to punish themselves, Tough Mudder.
3. Know what your EATING! Eating is all about PORTION SIZE and ENERGY INTAKE.
For those of you that think a muffin is a snack.... you are wrong.
It's worth taking the time to investigate how many calories/kj are in the foods that you love so that you can make more informed choices. Remember this is a lifestyle change - it's about regular eating and moderation.
4. Monitor your PROGRESS!
You need to make sure that all your efforts in healthy eating and exercise are effective so it is a good idea to weigh yourself.
Some argue that weighing yourself on a daily basis is not good, however, some people use this as a motivator. Once a week should be sufficient.
5. Make your weight loss a PRIORITY!
Do your exercise in the morning so you are not tempted to find a reason no to do it later in the day. Base your working day around your exercise. Prepare your meals for the next day so you are not tempted to buy it on the run.
