Sunny summer Sundays and the banks of the Brisbane River go together like wine and cheese. This riverside event, hosted in the shadow of the Story Bridge and serving up alfresco beers and food, could possibly be the most Brisbane thing in the whole city.
From 4pm to 10pm, the Howard Street Wharves host Weekends on the Lawn, the ultimate Sunday arvo session. The Wharves lawn, spread across the foot of the cliffs, serves up an outdoor extravaganza of food, drinks and fun.
Get there early to grab a good spot – and even a bean bag, if you're lucky – then eat, drink and be merry. On the menu are pizzas, burgers, and a kids sausage sizzle, topped off with a scoop from Goodtimes Gelato. Wash it down with a selection from Felons Brewery, wine and cider options, or an Aperol spritz. If none of that tickles your fancy, GRECA Greek Taverna, Mr Percival's and more are within strolling distance.
Amuse yourself with giant lawn games like Connect Four and Jenga and live performances from the Rivershed. And don't forget to soak in that view!
With activities to keep the kids happy and pets welcome, it's a night out the whole family can enjoy.
