We wanted something different this weekend.

We wanted something with that kind of intensity that sends adrenalin rushing through your body like a water bomb exploding on impact.

We were a troop of four with a need for speed.

First stop was Friday night high speed Go Karting at Eastern Creek Raceway. A perfect opportunity to rip around high g-force corners while simultaneously fulfilling childhood dreams of becoming race-car drivers.

We exited our 2 litre Ford Focus acting as if we were some bad-ass 70s crime fighting quad. This high was quickly squandered as the 16 year old behind the counter informed us we were prohibited from driving unless we could present an official Eastern Creek Raceway license. Fortunately admission to this exclusive club was bound only by a $5.00 note.

We were in.

We returned back to our 70s fantasy as the vicious twangy whine from our 13hp go karts shook our spines.

The lights pulsed from red to yellow then GREEN - vrooom! For the next 30 minutes we darted and weaved between each other to the soundtrack of screeching hot rubber tires.

High speed adventure one complete.

We headed back to our respective homes feeling like more accomplished men and women for a good nights sleep.

We reconvened at Circular Quay for a 9:00AM ferry enroute to Manly.

That ferry ride is honestly one of the best ways to spend $5.00 in Sydney.

We had booked into a high speed boat cruise around Sydney's foreshore's, The Manly Ocean Adventures "Urban Explorer". Our host was a Manly local, Blake, who prepped us for the trip was some local only know how. Despite living in Sydney all my life I had never taken a private boat trip, let alone a high speed one!

Blake kicked the engines into gear and we roared away in his open top boat with Manly disappearing quickly into the distance. Before we knew it we were hammering in the open harbour gliding over waves with smiles plastered to our faces.

We were right in going for Manly Ocean Adventures as the more intimate group size removed that often bland touristic feel. We zinged past the prime ministers house, goat island and got a whole new perspective on the city. Sixty minutes very well spent and certainly one of the best things to do in Manly.

We plan on heading back to Manly for some Sydney style whale watching through the season!

All in all it was an unreal, action packed weekend and a great way to get your heart racing for the week to come.
