Blackwood is in the foothills, south east of Adelaide. From the city, head south along South Road, then travel along Shepherds Hill Road which will take you directly to Blackwood. To access the Blackwood Recreation Centre turn off at Northcote Road, Eden Hills (before reaching Blackwood), about a 20 minute drive (give or take, especially if you miss the turn off, like we did!).
Blackwood Recreation Centre is, in essence a true community centre. Operated by the Blackwood Community Recreation Association (BCRA) Incorporated, a not-for-profit organisation, on behalf of the local community, the centre provides community access to a wide range of sports and recreational activities all year round.
Each weekend, Blackwood Recreation Centre transforms its indoor sports stadium into a rink for roller skating and roller blading enthusiasts.
Open to the public between 3.30pm to 5pm each Saturday and Sunday at a cost of $8.50 per person (includes roller skate/roller blade hire or you're welcome to bring your own). Cost for a family of 4 is $30.
In addition, during school holidays, roller skating/roller blading sessions run Monday to 1pm to 4pm, Monday to Friday ($10.50 per person or $38 for a family of 4).
My son's friend is a Limbo Champion - winners receive 2 of these vouchers, the runner up also receives 1 voucher which provides savings for various activities at Blackwood Recreation Centre.
