Jessie Yvette Journoud-Ryan is an artist I've long admired. Hence, if you're thinking of getting creative with crockery, now is the time to be taught by this amazing artist. There are weekend workshops running at Burrinja Arts Workshop - 351 Glenfern Rd, (Cnr Matson Drive) Upwey, from 10am to 4pm each day as follows. It'll cost you $260 for both days or $150 for a single day. Call (03) 9754 8723 for bookings.
Beginners are welcome and even though they can book single days, it's recommended they attend both days. Each day the program will run for 2 hours in the morning from 10am-12pm with a 1 hour window for lunch (optional - the workshop is booked for 12 hrs in total over the weekend, so it's up to you to choose your breaks according to your preference). It continues for another 3 hours from 1pm-4pm in the afternoon.
It's the perfect way to indulge yourself in 12 or 6 hours of tuition with Jessie who is a professional artist and qualified teacher. Main materials will be supplied i.e. tools, adhesives, a selection of crockery etc. A pre-prepared marine-ply surface will be provided (and optional), however, feel free to bring your own pre-prepared surface of any dimension if you have a particular project in mind. There's a possibility of a grouting session for works completed prior to the actual weekend.
Jessie is a French Australian practising Melbourne artist and works with a range of mediums from ceramics, printmaking and sculpture through to painting. Jessie creates sculptural mosaics and collages with repurposed crockery. She draws from all her training in fine arts and past connections and currently works from her home studio in Upwey.
