A Romance in Five Acts
A Romance in Five Acts
Act I - Accommodation You only live once so go all out and book a room at The Windsor Hotel. Luxury five-star accommodation in the heart of Melbourne's CBD. Boasting a distinguished guest list including screen legends such as Lauren Bacall, Gregory Peck, Katherine Hepburn and Vivian Leigh, as well as entertainment and sporting personalities such as Kylie Minogue, Barry Humphries and Muhammad Ali.
Organise a beautiful Horse-Drawn Carriage Ride at sunset taking in the sights of the city. Highlights include Federation Square, Melbourne's beautiful gardens and the Yarra River. Toast passers-by with a flute of complimentary champagne on your leisurely journey. Operating Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, your tour can be organised for any time of day with pick up and drop off anywhere in the Melbourne CBD.
Act III - Dining Romance at its fine-dining best – Vue De Monde. Cast your eye over stunning vistas across the city from level 55 of the iconic Rialto building as you dine. Head chef Shannon Bennett delivers modern French/Australian cuisine in a creative and innovative style. Try a cheeky cocktail in the Lui Bar before sitting down to a sumptuous meal. Be sure to book well in advance!
Take in a show at Her Majesty's Theatre. This 125-year-old building can tell you a story or two, from stars that have graced the stage to fires to renaming and remodelling. This elegant building has been the theatrical platform for shows such as My Fair lady, The Phantom of the Opera, Cats and most recently Les Miserables. Playing at the moment is Strictly Ballroom with Georgy Girl – The Seekers Musical starting its run from 22nd December 2015 and Singing in the Rain set for May 2016.
Act V – Shopping and Lunch A romantic weekend is not complete without a shopping spree in the fashion capital of Australia and nothing says good old-fashioned romance like lunch at the popular 1950s style diner - Soda Rock. Grab a delicious burger, fries and soda and dine like Sandy and Danny in Grease while enjoying classic songs selected from the jukebox located at your table. You may even be lucky enough to be entertained by the waitresses!
A lovely article Lenore. You've put it together in a package people might not otherwise think about. It sounds amazing. I've only been to the Windsor once; a friend and I shouted ourselves to high tea. We felt very special.
