School holidays and we head out of Sydney for a few days at the beach. A dear friend's gorgeous purple beach shack is our base to explore the beautiful far south coast.

Mossy Point is 19 kilometres south of Batemans Bay. The purple shack is a five minute walk from Broulee Beach. Rock pools and the lagoon for the little kids, surf for the bigger ones and long stretches of white sand for the walkers. We find beautiful shells, a heavenly sheltered bay on the other side and loads of fossils in the rock pools.

Every morning at 8am we take a leisurely stroll to The Muffin Shop (the only shop in Mossy) for coffee, muffins and a beet mix juice for me. The kids hang out in the wooden dingy beached out the front and feed bits of muffin to the lorikeets.

Our big adventure was a trip to Mogo Zoo where we saw white lions and their cubs, giraffes, loads of different primates, snow leopards, tigers, cheetahs, red pandas and fed the spotted dear. The zoo specialises in rescuing endangered species and conducting breeding programs.

Well worth the trip of around 4.5 hours from Sydney's East with a pit stop in the lovely town of Milton. Healthy food at Pilgrims or Flour Water Salt and a browse in Miss Moss , where we just might have picked up a pair of fab sandals from NYC.
