These markets actually first started in 1979 and have stood the test of time. They are now Victoria's longest running weekly street market!
Even after so many years, these markets continue to draw locals and visitors to them. Perhaps it is the home baked, handmade and home-grown goodies on offer from over 60 stalls throughout the Main Street of Mornington?
There are also fine fashions, accessories for adults, handmade outfits for small children, handmade toys and naturally, lots of fresh country produce on offer. These range from fresh eggs, bread, vegetables, fruit, cakes and more. In fact, there is so much here, you could do all your weekly produce shopping here.
No matter whether you are looking for an original present for a friend or relative, a child, or something special for yourself, the Main Street Market is the place to go and find it!
Even the Mayor of Mornington, Bev Colomb has said "the market is known far and wide, and shares Mornington's success as a friendly, vibrant place to be. Wednesday is 'market day'; it's a part of the town's culture."
And councillor, Anne Shaw states that "Mornington market brings such a diversity of local produce and crafts to our wonderful township, it is a true tradition."
