Brisbane's very own Smash Theatrical musical theatre group will be showcasing it's first ever production, The Wedding Singer, from 14th - 23rd February at the University of Queensland Schonell Theatre, St Lucia. The cast of 20 local, talented theatre performers, dancers and singers will transport you to 1985 and take you a musical journey capturing all that you love about the 1980's.



The production is based on the hit movie featuring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore and will feature an all new original score performed by a live band that promises to entertain the entire family.

The story follows the life of Robbie Hart, a New Jersey based wedding band singer who lives in his grandmother's basement. Follow Robert in his pursuit of love as he sings his heart out with hope of one day celebrating his own love story.

Leading the cast are two of Brisbane's up and coming stars. Starring as Robbie Hart is Callan Warner, last seen on stage in Brisbane as the lead in Harvest Rain's Bye Bye Birdie. Callan is currently training with the Harvest Rain Theatre Company in their internship program and is quickly establishing himself as one of Brisbane's best leading men. Laura Caitlin Jensen makes her stage debut as Julia Sullivan. As a regular performer with the UQ Big Band and a recent graduate of the JMC Academy in Brisbane, Laura's musical talents are sure to shine as the leading lady in The Wedding Singer.



The Wedding Singer production is led by Shane and Joanna Tooley who have been working together in musical theatre since 2000. Their production company, Smash Theatrical, brings together the best of Brisbane's talent and provides up and coming stars with an opportunity to showcase their craft. The Wedding Singer is their first production - so watch this space as they continue to bring the world of musical theatre to Brisbane.
