Sharing a love of great food and wine
The month of May sees the country come to the coast with a celebration of food and wine from the Orange region. Lots of events in and around Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel, set against a backdrop of Sydney Harbour.
May 14 and 28 are the days to learn about and taste some fine wines. Only $40 per person, tickets can be purchased on the hotel's website and include 6 wines along with canapes. On the top deck of the hotel, what better way to spend an evening than relaxing with wine.
Participating wineries - Logan Wines, Simon Gilbert Wines, Ross Hill Wines and Phillip Shaw Wines - will take your tastes buds on a journey whilst the hotel's sommelier will share the wine making process and tips on pairing food and flavours with vino.
Get your date or your mates together and sip away.
This free event returns to Robertson Park on 16-17 May. Sample some of the best wines and gourmet food offerings with dynamic flavours. You can buy on the day or pre-purchase tickets online for $30 per person that include ten food and beverage coupons, and a complimentary tasting glass.
Nineteen wineries, including Tamburlaine Wines and Small Acres Cyder, will thirst your quench and food stalls will satisfy your hunger. Lots to choose from with pulled pork rolls from Agrestic Grocer and marinated chicken skewers from Franklin Road Preserves to Turkish Gozleme and Spanish churros from Gozleme. Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel will also contribute paella, cheese plates, bratwurst and kids sausages, and soft drinks.
Music will be provided by The Silver Lining band and singer/guitarist, Duan & Only, whilst roaming entertainers will amuse.
A petting zoo and face painting will keep the littlies busy.
Kitchen Swap with Racine
This wrap up affair on May 29 sees hatted Orange restaurant Racine and award-winning chef, Shaun Arantz, offering up a special menu at the hotel to showcase the local produce of our rural neighbour.
Foodies will delight in the enjoyment of canapés, a three course dinner feast and matching wines in the Sunset Room. Dishes include fresh ocean trout with pickled fennel, radish, beetroot and lemon oil, duck breast with carrot emulsion, lime and black pepper, apple tarte tatin, and more. Tickets are priced at $159 per person.
Full details of events can be found at www.watsonsbayhotel.com.au and if you're wanting to stay overnight at this fabulous hotel, an accommodation package is available (from $209) that includes 1 night in a Watsons King room with a welcome bottle of Orange wine on arrival and complimentary wine class.
