3 Ways to Stream TV and Movies for Free

Remember when watching a movie meant going to the cinema or borrowing it from the video store, and watching a TV show meant tuning in at the same time each week? Seems a little quaint, doesn't it?

We are currently in a content streaming golden age and with a little know-how, you can enjoy non-stop entertainment for free.

TV Show apps

Almost all Australian channels have streaming apps and Freeview brings them all together. TV channel apps are the best way for busy people to watch TV, as you can enjoy your favourite shows and movies at a time that suits you. As an added bonus, they usually have less ads.

YouTube

YouTube - free YouTube, not the paid service - has a bunch of full length movies that you can view for free through their website or app. In Australia, we can see flicks like early horror classic Freaks or the schlocky 80s sci-fi They Live, while anyone with an American VPN can check out the 100 plus movies that MGM dumped on the website about two years ago.

Kanopy

Kanopy is free for the user, thanks to the support of universities and libraries worldwide. The service is paid for by education providers and local councils, so all you need to start your free streaming is a library card or school account. Brisbane City Council libraries provide four free views each month.
