How to set aside excuses and get yourself motivated
Sometimes it's difficult getting out of bed in the morning - especially when winter's approaching and the bed is the one place that's warm.

Here's a few idea's that will get you moving:

1. Get out into the garden if you have one.
Grab a wheel barrow and get busy

Rug up with gum boots and a jacket, grab a wheel barrow and gloves and go pull down all those falling palm fronds. 20 minutes later you will feel warmed up and ready to face the day.

Alternatively, if you live in a unit, invest in a few pot plants and start growing something. It gives one a sense of satisfaction tending to small plants, watching them grow.

2. Put your joggers on and walk around the block briskly, if you have a push bike, ride. There's nothing like a bit of exercise to get you going in the morning.

3. If it's pouring with rain, okay, you may not want to be outside at all so invest in a yoga/pilates or some form of exercise DVD and throw a blanket or joga mat on the floor in the comfort of your lounge.

4. Put your favourite CD on - loudly if possible, while you shower and get ready for the day. This will help you feel good and we all know feeling a surge of happiness is the body lighting up with endorphins.

5. Set aside all excuses. Honestly they are the bane of our existence and stop us from accomplishing so much. If you find yourself making up stories why you can't do any of the above (unless your in bed - sick of course) maybe it's time to listen to some motivational speaker - there's plenty of them on the internet that will help you to get up and going.

And if you're trying to motivate someone else? Remember the best way is to lead by example.

Greet the day with joy
Get into the habit of feeling good

Another tip is to become aware of your inner self talk. Watch for the ways in which you sabotage yourself and begin to self correct by implanting more positive suggestions. We all deserve to be happy and motivated, to engage positively with the world where we live.
