Make Mother's Day

Mother's Day is a beautiful day where the whole family comes together to show their appreciation for their mothers, grandmothers and women who have acted like mothers over the years.

Families usually celebrate Mother's Day by giving mum breakfast in bed, a nice card and a sweet gift such as soap, chocolate or a teddy bear.

This is all lovely things to do for your mum, but I have some other ways you can make Mother's Day truly special and fun.

Go walking as a family, if you have a favourite walking track go to it and go for a stroll and talk about all the memories you've had there.

Cook mum a big lunch, such as roast beef, corn, carrots, potato's and wedges. It will make her so happy and even clean up when you are done.

Go through old photo albums and talk about each photo, bring back memories and tell stories to each other.

Surprise mum and go and get a family portrait photo done at a photo store. Get everyone to glam up, put on a fine outfit and then go and get your photos taken. Buy a beautiful frame to go with the photo.

Get children to make "chore" coupons and whenever mum wants them to do a chore, she can pick it from the chore coupons.

Treat mum to a lovely day spa. Let her relax in peace and take the children to grandparent's or somewhere so she can get away.

Rent mum's favourite movie of all time and sit down as a family to watch it. Make a bowl of popcorn and get some tasty treats out for everyone to eat.

Make mum a special dinner or buy dinner for her. Buy a family pizza, a $20 Mother's Day meal deal at Hungry Jacks or get her favourite takeaway food.

Turn the house into a holiday resort. Give mum free run of the television, have music playing softly on a stereo, leave out take-away menu's on the table for mum to look through and also clean the house while she has a day doing nothing and relaxing at home.

Mother's Day is a special day and I want every single mother out there to enjoy it. Last year my boys surprised me and brought me a fresh bunch of flowers in the morning and then they cooked a yummy lunch with dad's help.

That sounds wonderful Kailah...all I ever wanted when my children were small was to have a day 'off' was never about the presents, just spending a happy carefree day with the family....
