Looking for healthier alternatives to lower your blood pressure and cholesterol levels; unknot that muscle tension; distract or slow down your monkey mind? Then try some of these techniques to de-stress.
1.
Music – select some favourite pieces and make sure they are on your device.

Garden – for some people, digging the earth is very grounding, they thrive on planting their own vegetables, flowers or trees.
3.
Read - immerse yourself in an old favourite, a penny dreadful or something more informative that stretches you.
4.
Walk – if you can't visit a beach, head to a
park to blow those cobwebs away.
5.
Water – a bath, waterfall or the waves will mesmerise and calm. Or
swim some laps. Men prefer fishing, boating,
surfing, and skiing.
6.
Camping – get away from it all for a weekend. Do the
outdoor tent in isolation or retreat to a luxury
resort to be pampered.
7.
Massage – with many local outlets, you can treat yourself anytime.
8.
Yoga and
Tai Chi – slow thoughtful movement and bring about calm.

Gratitude – look at changing your own attitude as once our contentment arises, our outlook is more cheerful, open and kinder.

Note that some of these are distractions to take your mind of its constant busy chatter. Some more
mindful ones can take time to establish, but are most beneficial once they become a regular habit. Sure we all have busy lives, but our mental and emotional health is our own responsibility.
