If you're anything like me, you're probably a chronic procrastinator. Rather than reading tips on how to not procrastinate (that's simply out of the question), it's much more practical to discuss how to procrastinate. Here are some fun and productive things you can do while you ignore your real responsibilities and leave them for the last minute.

1) Write in a journal.

If you don't already have a journal, I highly suggest starting one-- and not just for procrastination reasons. As we get older and new memories seem to replace older ones in our minds, keeping a journal is a wonderful way to make sure your memories, activities, friends, and ideas from your soon-to-be past are never completely forgotten. Writing in a journal is a productive way to take up your time, and years from now you'll be glad that you chose to procrastinate by taking up this timeless hobby. It's definitely much more worthwhile than making a "Sooo much work to do" Facebook status.

2) Go explore.

Even if it's just around your neighbourhood, go out and and take a walk. You might discover a new peaceful spot, a local business with surprisingly tasty food, or run into someone you know. Either way, once you get back you'll feel like the day wasn't completely wasted in front of a computer screen. Maybe you'll even have a new motivation to get back to work, ... maybe.

3) Talk to an old friend.

Don't just go around Liking' their statuses and profile pictures, commit your time to keeping in touch with old friends. Scheduling Skype dates or phone calls-- during that prime time that you know you should be working on something else-- is a perfectly legitimate excuse to take a break.

4) Start a new TV series.

This is a dangerous one, for professional procrastinators only. For me, getting into a new TV series has taken away hours of productivity, but has given me hours of entertainment instead. May I suggest Homeland or Girls ?

5) Exercise.

Exercising is probably the most respectable form of procrastination, and one that you'll never be mad at yourself for choosing to do. Some people actually love working out and say they feel great afterwards, and if that's how you feel, then you should never be ashamed to exercise, even at the expense of something else you need to do. If you're like me and find exercising torturous, you'll be even prouder of yourself for doing it and it will totally extinguish the self-loathing that often follows an intense procrastination session.

If you've gotten through this whole article without guiltily clicking back to your work, I assume you're a pretty successful procrastinator already. So keep in mind these ideas, and be as productive as you unproductively can!
