Need a holiday, but don't have the cash or time off? Follow these easy and free ways to take a break from every day chaos, and lead a stress-free life.
1. Exercise
Endorphins make us happy, so get your body moving and grooving. Whether its through a
bike ride or stroll along the
beach , a session of
yoga or meditation, an aerobics class or dancing, thirty minutes of exercise a day will boost your positive hormones and make your troubles seem more manageable.
2. Write a to do list
We all need a feeling of accomplishment, so it's useful to have short-term goals for daily positive affirmation. Write a to do list and tick things off as you finish them. This way you won't feel overwhelmed with the seemingly never-ending list of tasks that need to be done.
3. Take time out
Turn off your cell phone, computer, and electronic devices! Spend the time doing an
activity , read a novel, cook a nice meal, take the dog out for a walk, get your hands dirty in the garden, or head off for a
date night . It's important to give our minds a break from the information overload we get from technology. Just an hour or two per day of "switch off" time, will make a world of difference to your state of mind.
4. Pamper
Whether it's a foot soak, facial mask, painting your nails, or a long bath, these are cheap ways to have a luxury spa treatment in your own home. Add some scented candles and easy listening music, read a novel and sip on a glass of wine in the bath. It will be your own private day spa without the expensive price tag.
5. Spring clean
Donate pre-loved clothes, throw out unused condiments and old containers from kitchen cupboards, revamp a room by adding new cushions on the couch or a hanging a painting on the wall. De-cluttering the space around you de-clutters your mind; and a splash of bright colour creates a positive mood to the room.
