I'm in Melbourne often enough - so why not write a bit about some places I've seen :)

As an avid Melbourne lover, there is so much I adore about this wonderful city. Currently I am living abroad and traveling Europe. I have visited many cities and seen some beautiful sites. Also, I have met many people who have either been to Melbourne, or intend on going there one day.
Recently, some of my international friends visited Melbourne for the weekend. They asked me for some recommendations on what to in the city.
My response: what ISN'T there to do in Melbourne?!
I started listing off my favourite things to do and places to see around the beautiful city. I was so excited to hear their impressions of Melbourne after they saw everything. Naturally, my friends loved their weekend in Melbourne, and with their help I have compiled this list of the best ways to be a tourist while visiting.
Anyone I meet abroad who asks if they should go to Melbourne, my answer is a simple, strong YES. And of course, I tell them all that Melbourne is better than Sydney!
1. Go to Federation Square
Built in 2000 to commemorate the federation of the Australia states, this square is now a vibrant hub of things to see and do. Grab a coffee at one of the funky restaurants or check out the ACMI center before or after heading down the Yarra River.
2. Take a photo of Flinders Street
The iconic train station certainly has some historic charm. It is one of Melbourne's most defining landmarks and definitely deserves to be captured on your camera roll.
3. Hit up Chinatown
For delicious food, the best dumplings, and some serious karaoke fun, this is the place to be. Centrally located on Little Burke street, Chinatown is the place to go to get the party started.
4. Take a photo of the Royal Exhibition Building
This beautiful building is one Carlton's finest. The stunning architecture will impress anyone and make for the perfect photo opportunity, especially when the sun is shining.
5. Go for a stroll along the Docklands
The exquisite water front views along the Docklands complete Melbourne's harbour town ideal.
6. Relax in the Botanic Gardens
Surrounded by beautiful trees and unique flora, the Botanic Gardens are truly spectacular. Take a walk through the paved pathways or find a patch of grass to sit and soak it all in.
7. Walk along the Yarra
The central Yarra River is an utterly delightful space to walk along with family, friends, or on your own. Here you will get some of the best views of Melbourne and see the city in all its glory.
8. Enjoy the Arts Center
Melbourne is well renowned for its arts culture, so head to the arts centre to really makes the most of this. Here you can see the Trifle Tower, a symbol of Melbourne's artistic heritage.
9. Go to the National Gallery
One of the best places to go in Melbourne is the National Gallery. There are always interesting exhibitions on year round. With free admission, this is the perfect place to feel cultured and educated.
10. Hit up the Tram Bar
Melbourne has a unique and identifiable tram culture. The tram bar is a clever play on this. Located centrally near the National Gallery and the Arts Centre, here you can sit inside a stationery tram and enjoy a beverage of your choice!
