If you have boys then you will understand how much energy they have and how much they really need to blow off all their steam and get active and play fight, wrestle and muck around.
I always make sure my boys have their special boy time where they just let loose and blow off steam, so they are tired for the night.
Trampoline If you are not blessed with one of these, then bad luck for you. However if you do have a trampoline then you must know what a saviour it can be. Whenever my sons are in a bad mood, angry at each other, I tell them to go on the trampoline.
Why? Because all the bouncing, running from side to side, and wrestling with each other, they are letting out all their anger and they are highly unlikely to hurt themselves.
Pillow fight Not with each other, because that can cause serious injuries such as blindness. Whenever my boys are angry, another strategy I get them to use is the "punch a pillow" technique.
Basically a while ago I brought them all a white pillow and they drew a face on it. Their pillows are located under their beds, and whenever they are angry I get them to get it out and punch it, kick it again and throw it around their room.
Once they are done and their anger is out, they put the pillow back and are calmer.
Running & Screaming
Have you ever heard of the running and screaming technique? My karate teacher friend told me about it. Basically the kids run around in a circle and scream/yell really loud. It helps get rid of their anger and energy they have built up.
If you aren't in a place where they can scream, running around a huge oval will do the trick perfectly.
Most boys love playing sport games so getting outside and kicking a ball or hitting a ball back and forth is a sure-fire way to get boys to blow off any steam they have.
Also good for when they are angry, to hit a tennis ball against a wall with a bat. My boys don't get angry often, but when they do they always do the above techniques.
Boys are boys and need to let off steam someway, its the same for girls.
