Keep the kids busy and out of trouble this summer with Waverley's school holiday program full of awesome activities at the beach, in the park and surrounding areas, from Waverley to Bondi. There's plenty of free and low cost fun to be had for the creatives, the sporty, the tech-minded and everyone in-between.

In Bondi Pavilion

Enjoy a day at the beach on 15 January and take in the sun and surf and Flickerkids (curated by Flickerfest) in the theatre space within the Pavilion. The delightful series of short films for shorties includes –

Carys Watford's Space Girls – where four space-obsessed 9 year olds, on a sleepover, embark on a secret mission in their cardboard rocket

Paul McDermott's Ghostbear – about a polar bear cub wandering the arctic wasteland in search of his place in the world

John Kelly's The Pig on the Hill – is a lesson for Pig on what he has been missing (i.e. having friends) when new rambunctious neighbour Duck arrives and plunges himself into Pig's quiet life

Suitable for 5-12 year olds, it's on from 2pm for 92minutes. Tickets are $9.69 per child and $13.77 per adult and this includes the viewing of all 10 films. For more information and to book, click here .

For the tech-minded, the morning can be taken up with Tech-Time Tuesday with Tully. This will see participants create their own mechanical steampunk bird. It's for 9-12 year olds, runs from 10am-12pm, and will cost you $15. Tickets are available here .

The pavilion is on Queen Elizabeth Drive, Bondi Beach.

At Bronte Park

Summerama is a fun day of free activities and music on 20 January, from 9am-1pm, that will bring some summer magic. Meet some incredible animals that call Waverley's ocean and bushland home, courtesy of the Taronga Zoomobile, and learn how they move and what they eat as well as how you can make a difference to their environment. Get some tips too on how to make sustainability second nature.

Join the seaside scavenge beach clean-up picking up trash before trading it for funky secondhand wear (donated by locals) in the clothes swap and be a part of Ocean Action Pod, a multimedia educational experience that teaches you more about what's happening with plastics in the ocean.

Workshops are on offer too and include upcycling, bag painting, how to garden without a garden and how to create your own nature heaven.

Don't miss out either on enjoying the roving theatre of litter squad artists and their colourful street performances.

Whilst the event is free, you will need to register . Note, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

The park is bordered by Bayview Street and Bronte Road and is directly behind the foreshore of Bronte Beach.
