Discover Waverley Park, and A ROCKET
Get off the couch and visit Waverley Park - one of the most underrated parks in Eastern Sydney. The park is situated in Bondi, with close proximity to Bondi Beach.

Dog Park
Whether you're a dog person, or a cat person or a kangaroo person, Waverley park will have something for you. There is a dog park on the top of the park, which can be accessed by using both of your legs walking in that general direction. There's a building and staircase leading up to the dog park, located next to the playground, so you can't miss it!

No idea how I made it climbing up these steps

Playground
Playgrounds are a must if I ever visit a park.

Great place for the little ones

Tim Minchin (former winner of Big Brother and composer and lyricist of Matilda, the musical), once said that he couldn't walk past a playground without playing on the swings, and anyone who did was... well, boring! I happen to agree! Let the inner kid inside run free and visit the playground. It'll put a smile on your face.

Don't be boring! Have a go on the swings

It's a Trap!
The rocket is probably the most memorable thing about Waverley park. Unfortunately, they sealed off the entrance to the rocket quite a while ago, because there were too many kids flying into space and the mothers started to get worried. However, it still remains quite a fascinating site. At the very least, it'll look good for your Instagram!

Who did NOT get the reference? Go watch Star Wars!

A Bloody Fast Slide
If the rocket is the most memorable thing about Waverley park, then the slide is definitely the most exciting. This is the best place in the whole park, with kids lining up to have their turn, squealing as they race down the slide. Some are even clever enough to bring some cardboard and sit on it to increase their speed. I do not, I repeat, DO NOT recommend wearing short shorts when you go down the slide as you will most certainly have a sore bottom, especially if the metal has been heated up from the sun.

Be smart and bring cardboard for a faster ride!

Newly Renovated Field
Waverley park recently renovated their sport's field. Instead of planting fresh grass every year that would turn to mud shortly after, they have to decided to go with the synthetic grass route. The field is closed off with a fence, which is rather convenient if you have terrible aim and have to go chasing after the ball as it rolls down onto the road. There are also netball courts on the opposite side of the field. Sports teams can book both areas for their weekly training and games.

The Oval and Margaret Whitlam Recreation Centre
A few years ago, Waverley park renovated the stands for the Oval. They completed the renovations with solar panels, a kiosk and a court underneath the stands. They also implemented giant fake grass steps, which people always seem to be climbing over.

Definitely a relaxing position...

Every Saturday there's always a sport game on in the morning in the Oval. A coffee from the kiosk, a seat at the giant steps and a sports game to watch may be the perfect start to your weekend.

Solar panelled recreation centre! Yes, yes yes!

The Kiosk
The kiosk is a nice little escape from the world. The kiosk has a relaxed and friendly vibe, adding to the peaceful atmosphere of the park. The kiosk is open every day from 7am to 3pm.T hey have a kids menu, as well as snacks and mains. The food is made with fresh ingredients and the meals are very tasty. The prices were affordable, but the waiting times on weekends can be somewhat long due to the small kitchen. You can visit them here.

Final Thoughts
Add Waverley park to your to do list if you want fun, entertainment, and organic gourmet food in your weekend!

Can't wait to take the dog for a walk, have a swing and a slide, watch a game whilst drinking my coffee and check out that rocket I use to climb up as a kid (40 years ago).
