Try these strong and distinctive flavours for breakfast
Waverley House is a historic old building located at 97 Belair Road, Torrens Park. Inside that old building is a Providore and stylish unique café that serves quality espresso and homely meals, and attracts a regular following amongst locals.

The popularity of the Saturday breakfast menu is such that the owners have now discarded the lunch menu on the Saturday, and have adopted an all day breakfast menu, and they have also opened on Sunday mornings for breakfast / brunch. I called in last weekend to check out what the fuss was all about.

A packed inside eating area confirmed the popularity of Waverley House Café and their facebook suggestion about making bookings for Saturday breakfasts. Lucky it was warm enough and inviting enough to sit outside and enjoy the world passing by.

Waverley Omelette - Steve Hudson

The Waverley Omelette was a pure delight. Sauteed portabello mushrooms with mixed herbs, Meredith's goats cheese, baby spinach, Beerenberg relish and toasted sour dough made for a a very full plate. The mix of flavours emanating from this unique tasting dish, and the application of goat's cheese provided a texture to the Omelette that I had never tasted before.

Wake Up Breakfast Slider - Steve Hudson

The Wake Up Breakfast Slider combined a runny fried egg, middle bacon, shaved pecorino, Beerenberg relish and roquette on a toasted brioche roll. Again, a treat in terms of flavour mix. However the shaved pecorino was a standout on this slider and provided the dish with some "bite".

The large coffees also arrived with the breakfast, and were of the high quality that they are promoted to be. However their "normalness" stood out when pitched up against the bang and the bite offered by the Omelette and the Slider. Perhaps next time I will just have the coffee 'n' cake special in order to provide a fairer comparison of the coffee.

Waverley House Café is open for breakfast and lunches on Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm, Saturdays from 9am to 3pm and Sundays from 8am to noon. Details of specials and other offers are available on their Facebook page.
