Gilles Street's freshest, newest store
Wave Gourmet Cafe has got a unique setting of having a supermarket and a cafe attached in the same dwelling.
Open for breakfast through to dinner time,
Wave has got an extensive range of options available for dining.
Cafe Setting
The decor of the cafe is beautifully modern and cosy. It makes the diners feel comfortable and gives a good transition from the supermarket outlook on the other end.
Being an avid shopper at the supermarket component of
Wave, I decided to try out the food at the cafe, where the food was prepared and ready to be served, instead of buying ingredients to whip up a dish.
Appetizer
We decided to go simple with the option of appetizers and ordered
Garlic Bread. It was well-presented on a wooden platter and tasted alright - it was well-cooked, with the right amount of herbs added to the bread, but the garlic was a bit too overpowering for my tastebuds. Nonetheless, a dish that is good to start off with.
Main Courses
Considering the price range of the food at the cafe, and it being our first time dining there, we decided to go for a chicken souvlaki and beer-battered barramundi as the main course dishes.
The
Chicken Souvlaki was brilliant- served with warm pita bread, a side of olives, chips and salad and cooked to perfection. It is an excellent choice and I'd highly recommend it.
The
Beer-Battered Barramundi served with chips on the side was alright. It tasted just like fish and chips - nothing too extraordinary, but still generous on the tastebuds. It's a bit overpriced for its taste, but it tastes good. It is probably best ordered when shared with two other people, to get your money's worth
Customer Service
The staff's rapport at
Wave is commendable - they maintain a good balance of professional attitude with warm friendliness. They are there to accommodate to your needs and even suggest what they'd recommend, in case you feel lost on your choice of food options.
Overall Rating
With the generous portions of meals, friendly staff and a great, ambient atmosphere, I'd personally rate
Wave at 8.5/10.
So, check out this new cafe in the city and see what you find to tickle your tastebuds!
