As I have said before we are spoilt for choice for places to eat by the Brisbane River, but my husband always likes coming back to this restaurant for breakfast. The Watt Restaurant and Bar is his favourite for a weekend breakfast.

What's so good about it?

His reasons for choosing this particular place is location and food.

The Watt Restaurant is situated by the river underneath the Brisbane Powerhouse in the picturesque suburb of New Farm. You can choose to dine alfresco out on their terrace area or you can relax indoors looking out at the scenic Brisbane River. After eating you can enjoy the activities at the Powerhouse or wander down along the waterfront or stroll into New Farm park.

Like myself, my husband also enjoys eating out for breakfast and finds this time of the day quite invigorating. The breakfast menu here at Watt Restaurant has some quite delicious choices, yet my husband seems to choose the same item - 'watt with the lot' -poached or scrambled eggs, bacon, tomato, mushroom, hash brown, chipolata with sourdough toast. I quite enjoy the eggs benedict with smoked salmon, and our growing 12 year old son enjoys smoked salmon, avocado, tomato salsa, hash browns with usually an 'add on' of either bacon or chorizo. The Watt Restaurant caters for most dietary needs and some meals can be modified on request. Their pumpkin rice bread is very good (GF).

The Watt Restaurant also serves lunch and dinner for those who like a later start to the day. It also has a bar and bar menu with popular share plates. It is only a 10 minute ferry ride on the city cat from the city. The New Farm ferry terminal then is a short walk from the Brisbane Powerhouse or if you do drive there is plenty of car parking close by.

The prices are quite reasonable ($15-$20) which is very similar to breakfast menu at most other places that we have been to. The food is yummy and quite substantial and they make the coffee well - always arriving at the table hot.

We do enjoy eating here and I know that we will return to enjoy breakfast here, maybe we should sleep in and come here for lunch or dinner one time.
