The Watoto Children's Choir has been travelling the world since 1994, and will be here in various locations throughout South Australia from the 29th of August to the 12th of September 2017. They are ambassadors of hope for Africa's orphans and widows. Whether in schools, retirement homes, churches, parliaments or royal palaces, audiences everywhere have been enthralled by their performances. I was too when I saw them last year.
Each child in the choir had lost either one or both parents and is currently living in one of the Watoto Villages in Uganda Africa. Watoto Villages reflect a traditional African dwelling with clusters of nine houses providing all the basic home essentials. An orphaned child is placed in a home with a widowed mother and other orphaned children.
