If you haven't yet caught all the thrills at Waterworld Central at the Entertainment Quarter Sydney, add it to the top of your summer list of things-to-do. The good news is that the event has been extended two weekends and now runs until 7 February. So even if you have already been, there's still time to hit the slides again.

Two-Hour Sessions

I loved that even on a perfect sunny day, Waterworld Central wasn't crazily packed. We picked the first session of the day (10am - 12pm) so the park wasn't too busy. It did get more popular towards midday but because each session is limited to two hours, you're never waiting long to launch yourself down a slide.

Pick Your Pass

There are two main types of rider passes - the extreme Splash 'n Slide ($35) - which is for grown-ups and kids over 7 years old and taller than 120cm. And then there's the Little Dip 'n Slip ($25), which is for younger thrill-seekers and excludes the three extreme slides. A spectator-only pass costs $5.

What a Rush!

My little ones where a bit put-out that they were a few centimetres too short to be allowed on the three mega slides but after sampling them, I can understand the restriction. My goodness, they're fast and boy, what rush! It's actually quite scary sitting at the steep top but I gathered all my bravery, lay back, closed my eyes and gave in to the whooshing sensation. And then a minute later, I was climbing up the ladder to relive the adrenaline.

Epic Fun!

My favourite slide was the epic racer, where you climb up the ladder and then you can race a friend down the twin steep slides.

Riding the Wave

Hubby loved the wave slide, which is also really steep and at the end of the slide, you are whooshed up the other side of the slide like a human wave. Yee-ha!

X-treme Sliding

The X-treme tuber looks tame but just because it isn't as steep, doesn't mean it isn't fast. Wow, you climb on that tube and hold on as you slip down the slide at an accelerating speed and get a refreshing burst of water at the end.

Pools of Fun

There are two main pools which the kids can easily wade and swim around. In the one pool is a fun gorilla slide and in the other Ice Age Pool is a short but powerful inflatable slippery dip. There are red-capped staff members supervising in the pools and at the top and bottom of the slides. But parents are expected to supervise their kids, especially children that are not water safe.

Row Row Row Your Boat

The kids also enjoyed having a go on the paddle boats and a row on the paddleboards.

Having a Ball

Another popular activity was the inflatable giant zorb balls. The kids loved rolling around like a giant tenpin ball, although I certainly cannot understand the attraction.

But Wait...There's More

There is also the massive raptor slide (which is a non-water/dry inflatable) and the kids had a blast climbing up and shooting down the twin slides over and over again.

There are also games and popular fast-food fare to complete the carnival atmosphere.

There were also a couple of birthday parties happening - what a brilliant idea for a celebration - the kids were having an absolute ball.

Waterworld Central has definitely been a great value-for-money, school holiday highlight. The kids can't wait to go back for more water thrills and spills.
