An amazing cost effective hotel experience near everything

The lobby area at Watermark Hotel and Spa

TheWatermark Hotel and Spa is one of the best hotels you can stay at on Surfer's Paradise, and within good reason too. As you may be aware, the Gold Coast is dubbed as the 'holiday destination of Australia' with the fantastic beaches and attractions, not to mention great hotel rates. The Watermark Hotel and Spa has all of these elements covered, and then some.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Off hand, I paid around $142 a night on an occasion where I enjoyed a two-night stay. This was the second time I stayed at this hotel while holidaying on the coast. Looking out, I had glimpses of the beach and the Q1 building (where I have also been fortunate to stay at) was right opposite my view. All elements of the room service from what I can recall was just stunning.

Stunning food

The first time I stayed at this hotel was when I needed to attend a sales and marketing boot camp. This training was granted through a license granted to me in one of my previous businesses. I was staying at this hotel for almost two-weeks where my accommodation and meals were provided for. You can easily sleep well in their beds. Some hotel beds are rather squeaky, whereas the Watermark's beds were in tip top condition.

As I also stayed at the Gold Coast on business, I also enjoyed the use of the hotels conferencing facilities. Modern carpet and elegant decor. There were glimpses of the clear blue sky and the sun shining through. This was in the Spring season. The conferencing room is within close proximity to the hotel's pool facilities. There are tables and chairs to sit down at. It was great to be able to work outside occasionally. It is great to see some versatile conferencing facilities.

The staff at the check in desk are always ever so busy, yet despite this you get checked in rather quickly. Sometimes you will see up to four to five staff at any given time at the front desk, and virtually all the time I have seen them there, they're all on the phone. The lobby area barely sees an empty couch during the daylight hours. The top to bottom windows makes way for an airy and open ambience, and right near the beach too. This hotel attracts a lot of Japanese tourists. Many guests to the Gold Coast from interstate and overseas also stay here. Even some locals who have come from Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast also use this hotel.

The buffet breakfasts - yummy

The food here is filling and rather well cooked. Thankfully on the two occasions I did stay at this hotel, breakfast was provided for. A buffet breakfast. It is great to be given a choice to eat either outside or inside. A beautiful area awaits outside. The traffic can be quite noisy at first, and then you get used to it. It is great to be able to enjoy baked beans, sausages and scrambled eggs with a couple of pastries on the plate. On the business trip side of things, I also enjoyed their bar area with a great group of people I was training with, yet the details were quite vivid as I used their bar area a few years ago.

Watermark Hotel and Spa is only a block away from the beach. Right across the road is your chance to go to the top at the Q1 Observation Deck where you can look out and see the horizon. Maybe you might want to enjoy a drink or two at their swanky bar as well. If you happen to be staying here on a Friday night, you're not too far away from the Surfers Paradise Night Markets.

From this hotel, you're only a couple of blocks walk from Cavill Mall where all the action is happening. This is your gate way to the beach. If you decide to not enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then there is a great American pancake parlour a short stroll away. If you want to get out of the Surfer's Paradise area, this hotel is right near bus services to Main Beach and Seaworld (route 750) as well as to the Pacific Fair shopping centre. Access to jet boating and the Aqua Duck is also nearby. The latter location isn't too far away from the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre on Broadbeach either.
