Whether you're looking for a school holiday boredom-buster or a place to avoid Melbourne's random heat-spells this Summer, WaterMarc Aquatic Centre in Greensborough is your best bet.
WaterMarc is one of the biggest and most modern aquatic/leisure centres in Victoria (that's the largest in the northern region).

WaterMarc raises the bar with lots of mod cons to make your experience there simpler - convenient poolside showers are motion activated to save water and lockers are accessed by electronic wristbands.

The newly renovated centre boasts a total of 5 indoor pools:

1). The Learn to Swim pool - made for beginners and intermediates this pool is often used for tuition and has its own entry/exit and changing facilities.

2). The Lap Lane Pool - This 50m pool starts at 1.35m depth and includes an extra-wide Aqua Play area all the way to the ever popular diving end.

3 & 4). The Toddler and Leisure Pools - Take my word; these two are like a water wonderland for every age group: with mini water slides that go just fast enough, movable spray nozzles & hoses to aim at your friends or family members, and waterfalls and geysers spread by whistles, holes in the floor and giant buckets. The Leisure pool has a maximum depth of 0.9m and the Toddler pool a max of only 0.3m. Both are joined by a huge play space including a 'zero depth' play area.

5). The Warm Water Program Pool/Spa and Sauna/Steam Room - just like a warm bath, the pool and adjoined spa are the perfect temperature for dipping in and relaxing (plus they're good for your health as well). Complete with an access ramp, stairs and slopes for the lesser-abled, 2 fountains of flowing water, and a depth of 0.9m - 1.4m this pool is perfect for unwinding and loosening up those joints.

And finally... the best part of WaterMarc the 2 titanic water slides 'Pipeline" & "Tantrum Alley" - you'll know why when you slide almost all the way around the ceiling screeching.

The $42 million Banyule City Council project (as well as bringing about a modernised, safe & clean environment) also encompasses:

- A Health Club incorporating over 100 pieces of equipment and 3 studios used for group fitness, wellness and cycle classes

- On-site Childcare programs

- Personal Training Options

- Merchandise shop area - selling mostly goggles, bathing suits, floaties and other aids by well-known brands.

- Community spaces indoors and out to just lounge around in and hosting rooms for kids parties.

- "The Daily Kitchen" Cafe serving homemade wraps, sandwiches, salads, etc.

As for the simpler way to say it - I've been to WaterMarc myself with friends over 5 times already this past month and can't wait to go back; if only to tackle a certain slide that scared me away last time.

Casual swim admission prices include adult, concession, children and family. Add the 2 waterslides for $10 for a whole day's pass or $4 for a single slide pass.

Multi-visit passes are also available and locker hire is $3 per locker for as long as you need it.

Health Club, Childcare, Sauna, Steam Room and Adult/Child Swim School passes are extra.

All extra info including opening hours, prices, and timetables are available on their website .
