As far as comfort food restaurants go, the Watermall Cafe doesn't only fall into this category because of the scrumptious food and soothing aromas. As they say, Location, Location, Location.
Tucked away beneath the Art Gallery near the new entrance in inner South Brisbane.
Opening every morning for coffee, fresh muffins and toasted sandwhiches, it is a perfect hideaway before work each morning to collect yourself, or as a start to a day out at South Bank or in the City.
Also serving a light lunch menu with daily specials, afternoon tea, scones and cakes, the friendly and talented staff (you should just see them carrying four or five plates at a time without a single spill) are always happy to give you a smile and a cheery hello.
My personal recommendations are the meatball sub that rivals Subway for freshhness and value for money, and the blueberry muffin, almost as big as your head, soft on the inside with the rich blueberrys seeping through.
As for where to sit, there are tables sprawled out the front, including comfy lounges, all shaded from the Brisbane sun but still out in the open enough to catch a cool breeze.
Otherwise, the inside hosts an area that consists of platform styled window seats and tables decorated in different paintings and murials. This is a lovely, peaceful spot to work on a laptop or just soak up your surroundings over a coffee.
There are always a variety of pamphlets about the gallery and upcoming shows available for perusal at the counter also.
Watermall Cafe accepts all major cards and has wheelchair access.
