Welcome. Here you can find the most unique, fun, traditional, tasty, wacky, historical, contemporary, discovered and undiscovered places, events, experiences and things to do.
The New Year is about to roll around again and just in time for all those resolutions comes Waterfront Workouts, a program of FREE fun activities to be held throughout January 2020 at the Altona Beach Precinct.
Given most of us want to hang out on the beach in the Summer anyway, holding events on the beach is a great plan because it's likely where we're gonna be. Sun, sand, sea and Qigong? Boxing? Dancing? Arts? Sounds good to me.
There's a heap of activities on offer, everything from bootcamps to line dancing, meditation to volleyball, stand up paddleboarding to self-defence. With professional instructors running each activity you can try something new with confidence and it's all entirely free. In fact, if you've got time, try everything.
Breathe in the salt air and shake off the Christmas season stresses. Work on your fitness, your inner calm, learn something new or just have fun outside. Activities are to be held at the Main Beach, the Esplanade and Weaver Reserve.
Waterfront Workouts is a lovely antidote to a year of sitting down, too much work, too much stress, too much screen time, too much indoor time and a host of other inactivity-induced ills. It's also a good answer to "what can we do today that doesn't involve driving forever and won't break the budget?" Then once you've taken part in some healthful activity you can in good conscience possibly indulge in ice creams and/or fish and chips on the beach or head to one of the many pubs, clubs, cafes and restaurants in the area for a meal.
