I am a huge fan of succulents and cacti and have collected these for many years. You can find out more about this great hobby at this link .

If you are also interested in cacti and succulents, or if you want to learn some basics about painting, then you will find this event fascinating!

It will be held on 22nd of April, 2018 at 10:00 am until 1:00 pm, at 15 Mrs Trivett Place, Fremantle, which is located in the Bather's Beach Arts Precinct in Fremantle, overlooking the J Shed and the sea.

The "colours and sculptural structure of succulents" make them the ideal subject matter for a lovely watercolour painting!

This will be a three-hour workshop led by artist, illustrator and surfer, Hannah Katarski (aka Mermaid's Coin) who will teach you the basic elements of using watercolours and how to apply them in a different and illustrative style.

This will be a fun and relaxed class where you will learn how to handle your brush to create fine edges, mix and layer colours, and paint lines as an after effect to your picture.

As this is about succulents, you will be inspired by the colours and unusual textures of succulents, and you will also experiment with "wet-in-wet techniques" and incorporate "happy accidents" into a successful composition.

About the Teacher
Hannah produces, illustrates and uses printmaking techniques and watercolours to create work that is vibrant, retro and much fun. Her work is mainly about showing all aspects of the coastal lifestyle of Western Australia.

Hannah is also passionate about succulents, so this workshop will combine two of her passions.

Hannah produces limited edition artist prints including etchings and dry point prints, illustration, photography, custom painted surfboard fins and other oceanic oddities.

You can see more about her paintings at this website.
