Watch the Sunrise on the Central Coast

Among the most favoured subjects of photography enthusiasts are sunrises and sunsets, due in part to the awe these golden hours inspire. The Central Coast, located along the eastern shoreline, possesses an abundance of spots from which enthusiasts and early birds can enjoy the sunrise.

Check out these spots for a spectacular daybreak view:

Norah Head lighthouseFrom A49 Central Coast Highway, turn into Bungary Road and turn left into Bush Street which will end at the Norah Head lighthouse car park. Sunrise can be viewed at various points from the memorial lookout, by the lighthouse, or down the steps at the beach


Jenny Dixon BeachFrom A49 Central Coast Highway, turn into Bungary Road and turn left into Park Street, sunrise can be seen from the lookout or at the beach going through a long series of steps


TerrigalFollow Terrigal Drive until you hit the free parking by the Surf Life Saving Club, or go up Terrigal Esplanade and turn left into the beach parking. Sunrise can be enjoyed at the foreshore in front of SLSC or at the boardwalk or the Skillion. If you are booked at Crown Plaza, beach-view rooms will also give you an amazing vantage point.


Tuggerawong PathwayEnter through Thursday Street and turn left, going up towards Friday Street. Sunrise can be viewed through gaps in the trees bordering the pathway.


The EntranceAccess the car park near the entrance memorial via Marine Parade and enjoy the sunrise along the length of the footpath on Marine Parade from the carpark to the entrance baths. Or go down to the foreshore for a different view.



Sunrise Tips:

*Arrive at least 30-40 minutes before sunrise time to capture the changing colours in the sky*Familiarise yourself with the place during daytime as not all areas are well lit at dawn*Safety and fun in numbers. Go with fellow enthusiasts for a more enjoyable experience*Study your camera or phone settings for optimal dawn/sunrise captures
