The Fraser Coast Council is hosting another Waste to Art Competition this year with the aim to challenge everyone to think outside the box and look at the way we reuse and repurpose waste across the region. The challenge is to use the waste to create works of art, giving everyone the opportunity to explore their artistic flair as well as sharing their waste reduction ideas to the public.

The competition is FREE to enter and there are many great prizes to be won. Entries close on 18th October 2020 and are to be delivered at owner's expense to Gatakers Artspace in 311 Kent Street, Maryborough between the hours of 10.00am and 3.00pm on Monday 26th October, Tuesday 27th October, Wednesday 28th October and Thursday 29th October 2020.

For this exhibition , all artwork will remain the property of Gatakers Artspace until 29th November when the exhibition closes. All artwork must then be collected by 30th November at the owner's expense. Any artwork not collected by this date will be the property of the council unless other arrangements have been made. Please note, due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, organisers cannot guarantee that the exhibition will take place as described; however, if in the event that this occurs, the exhibition will then be held online and judged on photographs supplied by the entrants.

If you are wishing to sell your artwork, this must be specified at the time of entering and on the item. The gallery takes a twenty-five per cent commission for all work sold. All reasonable care will be taken by gallery staff when handling artwork.

Judges will be looking for durability, function and innovation as well as a demonstration on the reuse and repurpose of your piece with the use of recycling rubbish material. So, get cracking and take a drive out to the Fraser Coast Council Reuse Markets, op shops and secondhand store to look for local materials. Your artwork must not weigh more than 40 kgs. Please use only minimal new materials.
