Wassup Dog has been selling gourmet hot dogs from a cart around Perth for a while now, but recently opened its first permanent store on Royal St in East Perth. I went down one lunchtime with every intention of getting a hot dog, but found myself swayed by the meatballs - because then I could fit in a serve of chips as well.

For $15 you can choose from three types of 'balls' - beef, chicken or veggie, a base - chips, rice or mash, and a sauce (I chose curry). The servings are a fair size and certainly filled me up. Both items were really yummy, however the meatballs were not quite piping hot which was a bit of a disappointment. I did not mention it to the staff as they were very busy.

There is a wide range of hotdogs to choose from, from your basic one to all sorts of additions both healthy and unhealthy. There is even a vegan option for you non-meat-eating people. Hot drinks are available but no cold drinks appeared to be, slightly odd perhaps but maybe done to save space on a large drinks fridge. There is a small amount of seating inside and outside but as it's quite busy I wouldn't rely on being able to get a seat especially if you are in a group.

I will be back to try a hotdog!
