An unlikely meeting in a public toilet block is where this daring and witty production takes place, in The Owl and Cat Theatre located in Swan Street, Richmond. Set in a lusciously intimate, yet gritty space, this hilariously thought-provoking play has been written by Thomas Ian Doyle and masterfully directed by Gabrielle Savrone.

Wash Room introduces us to an unusual pairing of two souls experiencing their versions of life through the inexplicable mirroring of the other. And you, privileged audience, are invited to delve into the musings of two individuals on different paths with different ideals...or are they?

Meet 19-year-old Troy (Kyle Mandry), cruising for man action, and 30-year-old Kathy (Siobhan Connors), wanting to murder a racehorse. Both are exploring the frustrations of their realities, unravelling the 'self' they identify with through their lived moments of fear and faith, hope and hatred, lust and loathing.

They find in their apparent differences the similarities of their conundrums, reflecting the complexities of humanness which binds them, and ultimately all of us, together. Through their angst-ridden exploration of self, via the other, they find that toasting the significance of "our insignificant lives" draws them together in simple, yet profound ways. Is it sufferance or celebration? You decide!

Get there early to indulge in a drink in the cosy bar at the rear of the venue, which adds to the intrigue that independent theatre rightfully beguiles...
