Tourists will feel comfortable at the time of arriving at the hotel's classic black entrance, framed by arched windows on both sides. A uniformed porter will assist with luggage and will direct guests to a swing door leading to the small but elegant lobby. To the left of the main corridor is Randolph, named after William Randolph Hearst, who commissioned the five million dollar building.

Today, the atmosphere of Randolph club still attracts a big crowd of people from Midtown. Regular tourists might find the prices of drinks a little too expensive. To the right of the entrance, there is a lesser-known restaurant called Murals 54 which serves breakfast every day and lunch mid-week.

The main lobby area is not big and has very few seating options - but it's cute with fresh flowers and copies of the New York Times. Beside the reception, there are a number of stairs where history enthusiasts can spend a lot of time skiing photographs and reading the reflective text.
