Welcome to the 82nd Waroona Agricultural Show for 2012. Held in Waroona yearly, the Waroona Agricultural Society committee members, volunteers and sponsors have once again worked hard to put together a great programme for the whole family.

Price on admission is affordable, with all children 12 and under FREE, if joined by a paying adult. Adults are $12 each for entry. The cost to children 13 to 15 years old and aged pensioners is $8 per person.

Features include wood chopping contests near the Millar Street entrance, starting at 9.30am continuing throughout the day. The grand final 'Bonanza Wood Chop Event' begins at 6pm and yields the axeman winner $1,500. Other prizes apply for 2nd place and so on.

Another interest for many around the district is the hot shoeing competition at the Rural Shed. This runs all day as well. There are cooking demonstrations, Scitech shows, flora & fauna information, trade stalls, art & photo displays, music bands & dancing main stage.

Some more of the free attractions include 'Artybrellas' art activities and Sanny Ang's origami under the big tent. Have a go at the climbing wall near main stage. Wandering around the oval you'll find Faerie Cara doing wand making. Find Edward De Bozo for crazy clown antics.

View animals for free, although the petting nursery is on offer for a fee. Soak up all the magic that is the ally to the show with amusement rides, games, food and drinks. Careful with this part on the hip pocket, your money can go fast.

Take a guess on a steer's live weight at the Trade Cattle area for $2, with the chance to win $400 for 1st place, $200 for 2nd.

If you want to participate in exhibits at the show, there are four categories that can be entered into. These are Hall, Poultry/Waterfowl, Cattle and Horse. You will require a 'show schedule' for submission.

Times, conditions and how to enter exhibits are listed on the 'schedule.' For further enquiries or to obtain a schedule contact the Show Secretary on (08) 9733 1092. Details are also available from other venues.

For persons interested, memberships to the Waroona Agricultural Society can be accessed online and posted by mail.

Bring your family, hats and sunscreen. Allow the whole day to enjoy the many free sights and activities on offer. The Agricultural Showgrounds are located in Waroona along the South Western Highway, between Millar and Parnell Street.

What a really wet and even cold day it turned out to be down here at Waroona. Although, I think everyone enjoyed themselves darting in & out of rain to make the most of it!
