If you have clicked on this article, then you may be a self-confessed chocoholic, like me. You just can't beat the comforting taste of warm, gooey chocolate - but if you're trying to be healthy, then it can be hard to control the chocolate urge. This recipe, however, makes you feel slightly less guilty about devouring so much chocolate because it contains a whole can of chickpeas - and they're healthy, right?

This Warm Chocolate and Chickpea Slice is best served hot, in my opinion. Although it tastes nice cold, it is a hot gooey mess when served warm, which makes it even more delicious. Why don't you gather the ingredients and make it tonight?

Ingredients:

**100g margarine
1/4 cup raw sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 egg
400g can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
3/4 cup plain flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
290g bag of Nestle Melts - Dark Chocolate (divided in two)**

What To Do

Step 1: Preheat oven to 180 degrees, fan forced.

Step 2: Place margarine, sugar, vanilla essence and drained chickpeas in a food processor and blitz for 1 minute.

Step 3: Add the egg into the top and blitz for another minute.

Step 4: Add the flour and baking powder and blitz for 30 seconds.

Step 5: Add half the bag of Choc Melts and blitz for 30 seconds until broken up. If you don't have a powerful blender, break them up beforehand.

Step 6: Take out the blade and stir with a spoon to ensure all the ingredients are combined. Spoon into a lined rectangle slice tray.

Step 7: Bake for 25 minutes until firm.

Step 8: While the slice is hot, pour the remaining half of the Choc Melts bag into a microwave-safe bowl and heat in the microwave at 30 second intervals, until the chocolate is smooth.

Step 9: Pour over the hot slice and smooth into every corner with a knife. Allow to sit for 5 minutes to settle.

Step 10: Cut and serve! Be warned - it is a yummy, chocolatey, gooey mess!

  • If you have any slices leftover, place them in a sealed container in the fridge to harden.
