Lauren kindly answered some of my questions about Wardrobe Warriors, which is Brisbane's pre-loved fashion market with heart.
Can you tell me about Wardrobe Warriors?
Women and men can raid their wardrobes and turn their excess clothing, shoes and accessories into cash by becoming a seller at our markets. We then choose a charity to donate all proceeds of gold coin entry fees that customers pay to shop. Any money our sellers make on the day is theirs to keep!
The more people that come to shop at our event, the more money we can raise at the door to help out our charities. By shopping at Wardrobe Warriors you are supporting sustainable fashion and our community at the same time without breaking the bank!
We aren't your average market event. We are a dedicated team of volunteers who donate their time and energy into creating a different breed of fashion markets in Brisbane.
What inspired you to organise Wardrobe Warriors?
We have three goals for Wardrobe Warriors. Firstly, to give sellers the ability to be able to declutter their lives and give their clothing a second chance at life whilst making a bit of cash out of items that would have been thrown away or tossed into a cupboard to never see the light of day again.
Secondly, we want to change the patterns of the way we shop and give a more ethical approach to fashion.
By purchasing preloved clothing, you are saving them from being tossed into landfill and decreasing the amount of clothing we buy new, which decreases the stress on orders placed into developing third world countries (in some brands cases).
You can be a part of the change and saying no to sweatshops by giving our current clothing a longer lifespan!
And thirdly, Wardrobe Warriors aims to raise money for a host of charities within our community! We want to be able to do our part in this world.
We are lucky enough to have able bodies and food on our tables and we want to be a part of the solution to helping a wide range of worthwhile causes and give back to our community.
Wardrobe Warriors is built on love and that is what we believe in the most. We are group of volunteers with love in our hearts and a need to pass on that love.
