The Warden Head Lighthouse located in the very picturesque marina town of Ulladulla in the South Coast of New South Wales is certainly worth the visit.
Whether you are spending a day, driving through or staying in Ulladulla this has to be on your 'to do' list. The Lighthouse ticks all the boxes from the spectacular breathtaking views of the ocean, glimpses of the majestic whales migrating (during migration season) and witnessing other cute marine life such as dolphins. There are also secluded beaches to relax at and you can get your heart beat pumping with the awe-inspiring walking tracks...
Warden Head Lighthouse is not just a lighthouse! There are so many other outdoor and nature activities to be enjoyed too.
As I stood there admiring the Lighthouse I decided to walk up close and run my fingers across the base. I realised that Warden Head Lighthouse was made completely from curved wrought iron plates riveted together to form a shell, making it unusual in New South Wales, this was particularly interesting especially for me as I find Lighthouses fascinating.
The tower is topped with a small ornate balcony with iron handrail, unfortunately the public do not have access to inside the Lighthouse. Nonetheless it was still interesting to admire from the outside.
The Lighthouse was first exhibited in 1889 and is standing at around twelve metres tall, it might not be the tallest Lighthouse I have seen but it is still pretty amazing.
The walks that surround the Lighthouse offer many breathtaking vantage points to spot out whales and other marine life as well as glimpses of Warden Head Lighthouse. Some of the paths lead you onto secluded beaches, so do bring a towel and take advantage of the isolation.
You can spend a few minutes here or even up to hours admiring the ocean and exploring the walking tracks with glimpses of the Lighthouse reminding you that it is the main feature of this visit.
This is the perfect family day out, just pack a picnic and take advantage of the many things to do here or take a pit stop and just admire your beautiful surroundings...
