A range of delicious treats with perfect pastry
With a variety of nearly thirty tasty pies with pastry just the right texture, soft but not flaky; not too chewy but firm enough to not spill. This is the ultimate Aussie bakery with a pie to suit everyone … even three vegetarian pies, plus rolls of all kinds. All crammed full of nourishing healthy ingredients baked just right.
Real quality meat, tasty vegetables means something to suit everyone's taste; a range of rolls and apple pies, with berries or plain. Some are seasonal like curried prawns only when the prawns are running and fresh. As a regular consumer, I'm drooling just writing this. Check them out on FB
Nigel bought the business in 2015 and has taken the bakery from two thousand pies a week to nearly ten thousand a week plus their rolls. Might be time to expand the business Nigel! He employs 24 locals and delivers to about thirty outlets from Yamba to Brunswick and business is thriving.
The main bakery is in Wardell, just a few hundred yards off the old Pacific Highway travelling north but a diversion from the new motorway. Expanded with patronage from the hungry highwaymen who built that very motorway.
Their spacious shop sells all the yummy treats of the old fashioned milkbars, fish and chips, burgers, a broad range of fresh sandwiches and salads, cakes, ice creams, milkshakes. Basically wholesome basic food for everyone with tables inside and out. Personally, I prefer to eat at the tables beside the river behind the pub.
If you don't have time for the village deviation, then find a local outlet on that part of the north coast.
Check out your local cafes to see if they stock Wardell pies. You can sniff them out in the discerning cafes who know what an Aussie really likes to eat. Filling, they are a real treat, and top it off with an apple pie for dessert.
