It's important to have a quiet place to go to and reflect on recent and past events in your life. That can be a bit difficult on a busy weekend in a tourist hot spot like the Sunshine Coast - but is a place big enough that even if there are a few others around you'll hardly notice as you sit back and relax in with the sun or shade.

is a pretty simple. There's plenty of open green space but a lot of it broken up by the walkway that wind around the park. They do have a pretty modern and decent sized playground with some cool equipment all under the shade of suncloth - seeing as the area is so quiet you might just be lucky enough to have this all to yourself.

Being such an open park it makes for a great place to picnic. The main stretch of Tewantin is just up the road with plenty of take away options. If you want something a bit cheaper there's also a Woolworths right there so a cheap roasted chicken and salad is totally do-able.

There's a lot of history in this park. The name firstly comes from Granger Ward, who first select land in what is now the commercial area of Tewantin, but was later induced to relinquish that land for an extensive area that became known as Wards' Estate. The current site was formerly a tidal swamp with mangroves on the north side.

During the 1960s and 70s the site became the local rubbish dump. In the early 1980s it was established as and throughout the late 80s community members were invited to take part in the creation of a memorial walk through , with accompanying plaques. Tree species include Casuarina Glauca and Cunninghamiana , Ficus Benjamina and Hibiscus Tiliaceus . These trees have remained to today, and if you look closely enough you'll spot those plaques also. It's a lovely tribute to the lives of many. There's a sign at the start of the walk listing all the names of those with trees planted in their honour.

You wouldn't guess from looking at it now that this place was once the local tip. is a pleasant place no matter what your weekend plans. It can be a nice, quiet place for your to chill out, let the kids burn themselves out or even a family picnic. Choice is up to you.
