Situated at the heart of Kingsford, Wang Wang Shanghai Silver Star serves high quality dumplings that draws in numerous customers from far and near. This Chinese restaurant also serves lunch specials, noodles and rice dishes but they are not of as good quality as the handmade dumplings.
All the dumplings are handmade by ladies working like machines facing the crowd behind the glass. The front kitchen has high transparency with a glass pane visible from every corner of the ground floor level of the shop. This fulfils the curiosity of customers as they overlook the preparation process of various dumplings.
My favourite dish of the shop would definitely be the steamed pork dumplings that have a thin skin and a juicy inside. Wet your chopsticks in vinegar so you can lift it carefully to avoid spilling the contents of the dumpling. Be careful to not burn yourself when you eat it, as the second you bite through the delicious juice bursts and fills your mouth.
The second dish to try would be their pan-fried pork buns. They have the same filling but different skin with a crispy finish on the outside. The same applies, be careful to not burn your tongue from eating. Pan-fried dumplings and their wontons are also a pleasure to have.
If you can't make up your mind on what to order, the waiters are always willing to make decisions for you and serve food with a smile.
Wang Wang Shanghai Silver Star may not be the best restaurant in Sydney but you would definitely enjoy a visit there on a Saturday afternoon trying out their famous steamed pork buns.
