Just had lunch at Wang Fu Jing, a Szechuan and Cantonese dumpling restaurant in Carlton. It was tranquil inside. Wish I was tranquil inside.

The chairs looked awesome (like thrones), but were a bit impractical – way too low for the table - but to be fair, I'm a short person.

My waitress was very polite, attentive and helpful. I asked if she had any vegetarian recommendations. She pointed out a few things and I chose dumplings (fried). I was offered cutlery over chopsticks but decided that would be cheating.

A few people who arrived after me were served before me. While I was waiting I did a bit of Googling and read a few reviews Wang Fu Jing had been given – surprisingly, it seemed that most people hadn't been impressed.

When my dumplings arrived I was satisfied that they were well worth the wait. They came beautifully presented and were delicious (to be honest, I thought they were too nice to be vegetarian). Light and tasty inside:

My meal cost $8.50 for 10 dumplings. I did well to manage 7.

It didn't look like I'd been given enough soy sauce (tiny bowl), but it turned out to be plenty.

Grammar fans beware – typos abound here, from the "dunplings" on the front board, to the outdoor "dinning" area highlighted on their business card – but I really enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere.
