Fri 20 Feb 2015 - Sun 22 Feb 2015

The most anticipated festival of the year will be returning to Australia in February 2015 from its worldwide travels. The three day Wanderlust Festival will again be gracing our shores bringing with it the worlds best yoga teachers, top musical acts, renowned speakers, thrilling performers, expert lectures, outdoor expeditions, art, wine and organic food. How lucky are we Sydney-siders that this year's Wanderlust will be held on the gorgeous backdrop of Cockatoo Island.

I feel the need to tell you to buy your tickets now as they go up in price every month until the festival begins. After hearing all that Wanderlust Festival has on offer I'm pretty sure you will be glad you bought your ticket early. You can purchase a 1-Day Pilgrim, 2-Day Seeker or the one I purchased, which is the 3-Day Sage ticket. With a ticket on each day you can take three activities or classes, one Speakeasy lecture, outdoor expeditions and access to all day and night music events. With your ticket you get also get access to its own Wanderlust Festival App for you to plan and tailor-make your own schedule. Again, buying your tickets early allows you to plan out your days and nights, classes and events, as spaces to some activities can be limited.

Participating in this multi-day festival takes a bit of planning and in writing this article its helping me to work out my 3-day festival roster...so let's begin. Yoga and meditation lovers will be impressed by the broad spectrum of yogic and mindful disciplines with internationally renowned instructors. Meditate with 'The Pleasureable Past Times of Shiva and Shakti that is You,' 'Kirtan Chanting' or the 'Blissology Project.' My yogis you will be happy to know that there will be 'Yoga for Every Body,' 'Zero Gravity,' 'Hip Hip Hooray' and 'Get Fresh with Ganesha.' Along with yoga raves and many other body twisting activities to pretzel you into the night.

Who is ready to shake there groove thang? I am and so is the musical lineup of Nahko and Medicine for the People, Yolanda Be Cool, Gabriel Francisco, DJ Hyfi, Matteo Charles, Circotica, Fledge Creative, Nikki Ralston, Honza Lafond and others. These musicians will be playing music to rev you up while practicing yoga, at a Speakeasy lecture, up on the main stage, at a rave or at 'The Pool Party.'

Woo, I need a rest so what's on at the Speakeasy Lectures? Wanderlust has on offer talks on mindful life by yoga teachers, musicians, authors and leading figures in wellness and spirituality. Past speakers have included Deepok Chopra and Moby. I'm interested in going to 'Overcoming Fear,' 'Becoming the Voice of Change,' and this one is for my friend from Brisbane who is joining me...'Mastering your Mean Girl.' Just Kidding, this speakeasy is for me!

Ok I feel my second wind coming on which is great because Wanderlust has a special series of hikes and runs either on Cockatoo Island or half-day trips to destinations around Sydney Harbour. How cool is Wanderlust Festival sounding? There is still so much more to tell you about. For your creative side there will be unexpected art and performances, hidden gems and shape-shifting art instalments. If you want to shift your shape even more head over to the Healing Sanctuary for bodywork and healing massages provided by local practitioners. Also at the Beauty Bar you can relax with organic and botanical beauty and spa treatments.

Anyone else hungry yet? The Food Coop is where you can grab local and organic food between classes and activities. Or if you have more of a fine dining ethos head to the 'Sea to Table Dinner.' Aptly named 'Winederlust,' is for those wishing to sip on organic and local biodynamic wines as the sun goes down.

Wanderlust is a green festival that believes that yoga and the environment go hand in hand. Recyclable, biodegradable, bio-plastics, sustainable food and beverages will be served here. Just so you know, styrofoam and non-recycle plastics like white picnic cutlery are banned. On-site 'green volunteers' will make sure we pick up after ourselves, recycle and leave little impact on Cockatoo Island.

After all that yoga and shaking your asana, festival revellers can camp and glamp right on the island. Laid back, BYO tent camping or everything provided for you glamour 'glamping' allows you to sleep on Cockatoo Island for an additional price. You will have unbeatable harbour views, toilets, showers and large camping kitchens on-site. Rumour has it that almost all the glamping tents have been spoken for...another reason you will be happy to have read this article early.

However for the rest of us, we can travel to and from the island via public ferry from various stops (approximately 25 minutes from Darling Harbour), water taxi or a special event-only Wanderlust Festival Ferry.

The Wanderlust Festival has something for the whole family including the littlies. There will be a special series of classes for the wee ones aged 10 and under. From early morning meditation to all night chakra spinning music, your day and night will be full. Tell your friends, grab your tickets early and hope to see you hanging with your 'OM'ies on 20-22 February 2015. Miss this and the next stop for Wanderlust after Sydney is Oahu, Hawaii in March.
